Cascading Style Sheets
Introduction
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are simple, but a sizeable topic
- Technically CSS are not part of HTML, but rather an extension
- CSS enable you to define a consistent 'look' for your document(s)
- Style information is stated at the beginning of the document, or in a separate file
- CSS are simply a formatting and presentation tool
- CSS is a simple style sheet mechanism that allows authors and readers to attach style (e.g. fonts, colors and spacing) to HTML documents.
- One of the fundamental features of CSS is that style sheets cascade; authors can attach a preferred style sheet, while the reader may have a personal style sheet to adjust for human or technological handicaps.
